Additional Education and Training, if required to sell specific products or for license type
Sections 1749.3, 1749.31, 1749.32, 1749.33, 14090.1 and 15059.1 of the California Insurance Code requires
that life-only agents and/or accident and health agents, property broker-agents and/or casualty broker-agents,
personal lines broker-agents, limited lines automobile agents, independent and public insurance adjusters
shall satisfactorily complete three (3) hours of ethics continuing education each license term. The three-hour
ethics continuing education requirement is a part of and not in addition to their 24 hour continuing education
Section 1749.8 of the California Insurance Code states, in part, that all life agents must complete
eight-hour annuity training prior to soliciting individual customers in order to sell annuities. In
addition, every life agent who sells annuities shall satisfactorily complete four-hours of annuity
training every two years prior to license renewal.
Section 10234.94 (a)(4)(A) and (B) states, in part, that licensees shall complete the initial training requirement prior
to being authorized to solicit individual consumers for the sale of long-term care insurance. Each agent or other
insurer representative authorized to solicit individual consumers for the sale of long-term care insurance can
satisfactorily complete the following: New licensees must complete eight hours of training in each of the first four
12-month periods. For licensees who have had their license issued, they must complete eight hours of training prior to
each license renewal.

Producer Licensing Bureau for information on the number of
Continuing Education (CE) hours required to reactivate your license. Because of your "Inactive Status,"
the CE information on this web site may not reflect the number of CE hours required to reactivate your license.
